Okay, so at midnight last night, I got the munchies and decided to make the quick drive to Carr's to grab some chocolate chip cookies.
I get to the check-out and the gal goes to scan the cookies and, lo and behold, there is no bar-code on any of the labeling. The price is CLEARLY marked on the top of the package as $5.49.
There are several people behind me in line.
The girl did not know what to do. She looked at every side of the package about 5 times looking for that danged bar-code. Even though it said $5.49, she wanted that bar-code!
An announcement was made over the intercom system, "Supervisor to Check-Out Stand #2 please." No one came. We stood there for eternity and finally she asked a fellow checker what she should do. The other checker stated to ring it up as Bakery for $5.49.
I could have told her that.
I sorta felt sorry for her but it was comical in a way. She just did not know how to handle the situation.
So I entered my customer number on the keypad and received a discount to $4.99. I paid with a $5 dollar bill and there was 31 cents waiting for me in the change machine. A customer in front of me must have forgotten their 30 cents. I made out on the deal! Well, that is, as long as you don't consider the fact that I shouldn't be eating these things in the first place!
